Kari Ikonen has received the high honor of being nominated for the Teosto Award for his compositions on the album "The Helsinski Suite".
The Teosto Award is one of the highest honors awarded to a composer in Finish music. The previous nominees and award winners have included many of the most popular and acclaimed composers and song writers of the past decade.
This year Kari Ikonen is among a high raking group of musicians including classical composers Kalevi Aho and Mikko Heiniö, jazz pianist Iro Haarla, post-rock group Rubik and chart-topping song writer Tuure Kilpeläinen. The award, totaling 40 000€, will be devided among 1-4 of the nominees. The award ceremony will be held on April 12th at the Helsinki Music Centre.
